The Bitch says: Perspective

This is strange in many ways. Things have been striking me as a little off all day. We started the morning, getting ready for work, with the usual Sun. am Japanese Gamora movie with a twist. In this one, instead of the little boy who believed......there was a girl who was connected. Whenever Gamora got cut or hurt she felt the same thing. He was bleeding green crap and she was bleeding the same thing only in red. Strange movie. I guess I'll never figure out the concept of celebrating a monster destroying your city to destroy another monster. See, we didn't need the bomb in the 2nd WW. We just should of hooked up with Gamora.
Now, was checking out diaries before coming to update mine. I have had this startling, amazing revelation.......you have to put what's going on in your life in perspective. Unfortunately, contrary to our private opinions, life doesn't revolve around each of us. As bad as you think your life is, someone is having a much worse time. You have a relative who needs surgery while someone else's relative has just been given a terminal diagnosis. It's like the people I take care of at work. We get alot of sub-acute, placed for therapy before going home type people. They whine and bitch about having to be there. They put on their call light to have someone move the Kleenex which is 5" from their hand. I usually tell them that reaching for the Kleenex is part of their therapy. Meanwhile, two doors down is a man with prostate cancer with mets to the liver....in other words every breath he takes could be his last and will be very soon. We had a patient a few years ago who had a stroke. She went to therapy, did really well and was able to ambulate with assist of a quad-cane. She was the one who ruled in her house so, whatever she said her husband went along with. She was very depressed with her recovery level because, of all things, she was unable to play tennis anymore. She was independent in every area except for the tennis thing. A few weeks after she went home her and her husband attempted suicide in the garage with the car running. Her reason, in the note left, was the change in lifestyle was too much....remember, she couldn't play tennis. Anyway, they were found before they died. Adult Protective Services came in and confiscated all of the pills in the house as they could be used to take an overdose. Unfortunately, they forgot to check for things like guns. A month later they were found after neighbors heard gunshots. He shot her and then himself. It seems like a really stupid thing to end your life because you can't play tennis but, in her eyes, it was an huge change. It's all in the perspective.
On another strange note....certain people here have become much more active. The total organized, in control, super high self-esteem person has been around for a couple of days. I finished my regular work at my job kind of early so I took it upon myself to organize the charting room with all of the shelves that people dump crap on all the time. Wonder how long that will last??????
And all of that said........have a great day and........
I'M GONE
