The Bitch says: Iraq part 2

I was going to tell the story of the Mujahideen as my Bosnian friend told me but, in following links tonite I found way too much other stuff that I need to comment on. The story will be for another time. As you may have noticed, I have found the world of the Iraqi weblogs...and now I can add the Kurdish and Iranian ones, too. In reading and following links I found some really interesting things....interesting in a tragic way.

There was the story of the wedding party near the Syrian border. The military said they had to be insurgents because they were out of town near the border and they had about 30 males of military age with them. What actually happened was that they went to where they grazed their goats and set up tents near a stone house they used when the goats were there. As reported in the Associated Press, the survivors said they heard the Apache helicopter early and saw it hovering and taking note of what was going on. After the celebration was over, the bride and groom went to their tent, the women and children went into the house and the men went to their tent. About 3 am the Apaches came back.....supposedly because they were fired on....the first missle took out the tent with the men, the second took out the house with the women and children.......according to Robert Fisk, a correspondent for Independent Newspaper, UK, when it was done the survivors and other family members dug 28 graves each holding 3 bodies...mainly women and children. First the military said they fired on them because they were firing guns at them, then they said it was because they couldn't be a wedding party....too many men too close to the border...make up your mind which lie you want to tell and stick with it.

In another case there were 5 Kurds heading south to join the Iraqi army....that same army that was re-formed by our military....and that same army shot and killed them before they had a chance to try to join. We're training them well, aren't we.

Then there was a member of the Kurkuk Council who had been assassinated, leaving his seat empty so, of course, there were Kurds who wanted to be elected to it. Paul Bremer...that oh so special representative of the US in Iraq, said he was opening it up to all ethnic groups.....ok, it's a Kurd Council but, that's ok..they could still try. Then he decided that only Turkmen could apply...really a smart move, a Turkman on a Kurdish Council....they should get along really well....NOT!!!

We are playing games with peoples lives here.....Iraqi and American....everyone has to march to Bush's agenda whatever that it......actually I found a site that lays that out too but, that will be for another time.
